Freshwater pearl jewelry can be a very elegant an affordable alternative to the exceptionally expensive high end pearls on the market. These pearls also have a unique style, and beauty, that can't be matched by other beads. Freshwater pearls are found in a variety of colors from shades of white, pinks, greens, gold to even jet black. The shapes, while a perfectly round pearl is quite rare, can range from roundish, oval, teardrop, oblong or even quite irregular. These shapes can be grouped together or used in patterns to make some very attractive pieces, in colors to match any look.
When made into freshwater pearl jewelry, pearls are often set with white gold or sterling silver. White metals contrast well without clashing with the color of most pearls as yellow gold usually does. The only exception, to this unofficial rule, is with black pearls, but they are usually still set with white metals because of even more contrast making a very unique and classic look. |
